FRIT 7231 Instructional Design Lesson
Reflection
My responsibility is to introduce teachers and students to digital resources, including modeling their utilization, to help all patrons become comfortable with programs other than PowerPoint and Microsoft Word docs. Google has numerous programs, much like PowerPoint and Word docs; but Google programs are more accessible to people, regardless of whether or not they are located in the confines of the school. The problem identified in the instructional design unit was that teachers need to learn ways in which to integrate technology into their lessons by using Chromebooks and such programs as Google docs and Google sheets. We have five Chrome carts available in the media center for use by teachers/classes; therefore, the teachers need to be familiar with strategies for using Chromebooks, as well as the services that Google offers. While there are many Web 2.0 tools that I can teach students and staff to use, for this project I chose to concentrate on the utilization of Chromebooks, Google docs, and Google sheets. Because of this instruction, we have seen an increase in the use of Chromebooks and Google across curriculum areas.

Task 3 - Ethical Uses of Information
Reflection:
I selected TES teacher lessons to display information about ethical uses of information. Students create many projects during their school career; therefore, it is very important that they understand that plagiarism is wrong and that copyright laws exist. On the TES lesson site, I placed resources that discuss copyright laws, plagiarism, ways in which to cite references properly, and online safety tips. I also created two mini-lessons for use when teaching students before they begin to work on research projects. If information is found on the Internet, students sometimes tend to feel that the resources are acceptable to use as if they are their own. The US copyright laws protect intellectual property and original ideas. Clarifying the laws to students and collaborating with teachers on a continual basis also help me to share and promote the procedures and policies regarding current legal and ethical issues for uses of information.
